So much today is  threatened  by the "reinvention" of truth.  The number of non-profits attempting to answer the various way this impacts our lives is infinite and the need is overwhelming. I opted to act by committing to these three giving choices through May 15.   The benefiting organizations may change at that time, but the Girls and I will keep giving. We are stubborn old broads.

Considering their management, finances, and track records -- the ability to these three groups to provide facts in the face of fallacy and support those unable to face these challenges individually are my first round selections.  I recognize it isn't particularly popular to support lawyers, scientists  or journalists today -- but we need them more than ever.

The list of issues threatening women today seems to be is constantly growing, shifting and intensifying - but the National Women's Law Center has a proven record of meeting challenge with change.

The Center has worked for more than 40 years to protect and promote equality and opportunity for women and families. We champion policies and laws that help women and girls achieve their potential at every stage of their lives — at school, at work, at home, and in retirement. Our staff are committed advocates who take on the toughest challenges, especially for the most vulnerable women.

You can give too.  Or at least sign up for their mailing list at the same link -- sometimes it helps to know good people are in our corner doing great things.

The only "spin" on the issue of climate change should be the rotation of the planet we share -- but it's more than climate. The intersection of humans and our world  impacts the basic issues of food, water and health. Over the past 50 years  The Environmental Legal Defense Fund  brings together

  • Science - they are evidence-based advocates
  • Economics  - they find economic incentives to drive environmental progress
  • Partnerships- from farmers to the biggest board rooms
  • Non-partisan Support -for the enviroment

Their site is full of the latest information on environmental issues and response, and , of course, You can give too.

I am a former, but never reformed, journalist. The protection of a free press, particularly without what was once provided by the media outlets for which we worked -- is essential. The framers of the Constitution didn't like reporters either, but the knew enough about history to protect them in the First Amendment .

Without an understanding of how media should function and an appreciation of those who are still fight the good fight in the face of the greatest corporate and political challenges to the professional  in the history of our country -- there is nothing I can say in this space to convince you how badly these folks need help.   The Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press provides essential information, access and support to working press.

To protect the right to gather and distribute news; to keep government accountable by ensuring access to public records, meetings and courtrooms; and to preserve the principles of free speech and unfettered press, as guaranteed by the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution

There are no babies or polar bears on this site to make you feel good about giving, but the adorable and endangered  need unfettered information as much as everything and everyone else.

And yes, you can give too
